Who is Yahweh?
What does He require of YOU?
Did the title of this tract strike you as strange? Perhaps you have never heard of Yahweh. “Who or what is Yahweh?” you might be asking. Yahweh is the personal name of the Creator of the universe, and He has revealed Himself through the Hebrew writings of the Bible known as the Old Testament Scriptures. Let us take a few moments to consider some questions pertaining to the Creator of all mankind.
The Creator revealed His personal name everywhere the capitalized words LORD, GOD, or JEHOVAH were used (about 7,000 times). The original name in Hebrew was יהוה, spelled YHWH in English and pronounced “Yahweh”. Psalm 68:4 says, Sing unto Elohim, sing praises to His name: extol Him that rideth upon the heavens by His name YAH, and rejoice before Him.Note: Yah or Jah is the poetic or short form of the Heavenly Father’s name. For instance, the word “Hallelujah” means, “Praise ye Yah.”
How dangerous is it to take away from and add to Scripture? For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, Elohim shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, Elohim shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and fromthe things which are written in this book (Revelation 22:18-19). Note: By taking Yahweh’s name out of the Scriptures and substituting a title, some have fallen under the condemnation of this curse.
To whom were the truths of Scripture committed? What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision?Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of Elohim (Romans 3:1-2).
What do the Jews say about the Creator’s name? “The true pronunciation of the name YHWH was never lost. Several early Greek writers of the Christian church testify that the name was pronounced Yahweh.” Encyclopedia Judaica, vol. 7, p. 679.
Who will eventually be saved? And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of Yahweh shall be saved (Acts 2:21, compare Joel 2:32).
What does Yahweh require of His created beings? Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear Elohim, and keep His commandments: for this is the whole duty of man (Ecclesiastes 12:13).
Where do we find Yahweh’s Commandments? The first five books of the Bible, known in Hebrew as the Torah, contain all of Yahweh’s commandments. The Ten Commandments, written down by Yahweh in stone, are a summary of the whole Torah or law in English (Exodus 20:1-17).
What have we done if we disobey any of Yahweh’s commandments? Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law (1 John 3:4).
What is mankind’s punishment for sinning? For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of Elohim is everlasting life through Yahshua the Messiah our Master (Romans 6:23). Note: The name “Jesus” means “Jehovah saves” according to the Encyclopedia Americana,Vol. 16 p. 38. But knowing that Jehovah is not the Creator’s name (it is only about 500 years old), Jesus is not the true name of the Son of Yahweh. According to Greek and Hebrew Dictionaries of the Bible, the true name of the Son is Yahshua. Yahshua means “Yahweh saves.”
How many names bring salvation? Be it known ...that by the name of Yahshua the Messiah of Nazareth...Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved (Acts 4:10, 12).
What will happen to those who only knew the Son by the name of Jesus? And the times of this ignorance Elohim winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent (Acts 17:30).
How is it that we can be forgiven through Yahshua’s name? For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.But Elohim commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, the Messiah died for us (Romans 5:7-8).
After Yahshua forgives us, what words does He speak to us? ….Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more (John 8:11).
Is it really possible to live without sinning? I can do all things through the Messiah which strengtheneth me (Philippians 4:13).
The Creator of the universe wants to enter into a covenant relationship with the inhabitants of earth. Of what will this covenant consis? “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith Yahweh, I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them” (Hebrews 10:16).
What does the prophet Ezekiel say about this covenant? Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put My spirit within you, and cause you to walk in My statutes, and ye shall keep My judgments, and do them.
In the book of Revelation, what two characteristics does the Apostle John attribute to the final generation of people on planet earth? Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of Elohim, and the faith of Yahshua (Revelation 14:12).
In the beginning Yahweh created man in His own Image (Genesis 1:27). Man was perfect, and his inclination was in harmony with Yahweh’s law. Through the ages, however, man has corrupted himself by transgressing Yahweh’s laws (Ecclesiastes 7:29). Yahweh so loved His creation that He sent His only begotten Son, Yahshua, into the world to live a perfect life and give man an example to follow. Then He died for the sins of all men, thereby giving them a way of deliverance from the curse of the law (Galatians 3:13).
If anyone will put their trust in Yahweh and His Son Yahshua to save them from their sins (Romans 5:1-2)and will ask forgiveness (Matthew 6:12), they shall be forgiven through the blood Yahshua shed when He died for them (Romans 5:8-9).
By entering into a covenant relationship, the people who heed the call will begin to keep the commandments and will be given power from Yahweh to live a sinless life.
If it is your desire to enter into a covenant relationship with your Creator and become one of His saints, please read the Bible, find out what it really says, pray a simple prayer asking for forgiveness, repent, (turn back from) and be baptized into the name of your Savior Yahshua.
Make a covenant to obey all of His commandments that He makes known to you through His Word.
